1. Who we are
Cineplex Alert (also identified as Movie Alert in parts of the service) is an independent movie discovery, booking-alert, reminder, and community app. This policy covers the app and this companion website. For questions or privacy requests, contact support@cineplexalert.bond.
We are not affiliated with or endorsed by Star Cineplex or ShowMotion Limited.
2. Information the service handles
- Account information: if you register, your email address, chosen profile information, password hash, and authentication/session records. If Google sign-in is enabled and you use it, the service receives information needed to identify your Google account, such as your email and Google account identifier. We do not receive your Google password.
- Device and notification information: device identifiers, platform, push notification tokens, registration records, and delivery-related information used to route alerts and manage devices.
- Preferences and activity: followed movies, watchlists, notification preferences, reminders, alert inbox entries, and service interactions required to provide these features.
- Community information: your display name, profile, room membership, messages, reactions, and reports or moderation activity when you use community features. Content posted in a room is visible to other people who can access it.
- Technical records: requests may generate server and application logs, including IP addresses, timestamps, device or browser information, errors, and security or delivery events. These support troubleshooting, abuse prevention, and service operation.
- Support correspondence: information you choose to send when contacting us, including an email address and details needed to resolve a request.
3. How information is used
We use this information to deliver booking updates and reminders, maintain accounts and sessions, save preferences, provide community discussions, respond to support and deletion requests, moderate misuse, and diagnose service problems. Guest use still requires device-related information for features such as notifications. We do not sell personal information.
4. Permissions and device settings
The app may request notification permission to deliver alerts and exact-alarm access for scheduled reminders. Some Android devices also require battery or autostart settings to allow reliable background operation. You control these permissions through your device settings. Disabling them can prevent alerts or reminders.
The app does not require your contacts, SMS messages, or precise GPS location to provide movie alerts. Permission behavior can differ by operating system and installed app version.
5. Service providers and external links
Push delivery uses Expo and/or Firebase services as configured by the app. Email and hosting providers process information needed to operate the service. If you choose Google sign-in, Google processes authentication under its own policy. Providers may process data in countries other than your own.
See the Expo privacy policy, Firebase privacy information, and Google privacy policy. We may also disclose information when legally required or necessary to address abuse and protect the service and its users.
External cinema booking sites operate separately. Their policies apply when you leave the app to book. Cineplex Alert does not process cinema ticket payments or store payment-card details.
6. Retention and deletion
Account data is retained while your account is active so the service can work. You can delete your account in the app or request deletion by email using the account and data deletion page.
The current account-deletion process removes account credentials, sessions, account-linked preferences, watchlists, reminders, notification inbox entries, verification codes, and chat profile and membership bindings from the active database. Device registrations are unlinked from the account rather than necessarily erased. Guest data can remain device-based.
Community and operational records: account deletion does not automatically erase every previously posted community message, moderation record, technical log, or backup copy. If you want those records reviewed or removed, include that in your support request. Some information may need to be retained for security, abuse prevention, legal obligations, or backup recovery. Support can explain the records and retention applicable to your request.
Uninstalling the app alone does not delete server-side account data. We do not state a fixed deletion or backup-purge deadline here because the deployed retention settings can vary. Contact support for the applicable timing and confirmation.
7. Your choices
You can adjust notification preferences, revoke permissions, stop following films, leave community rooms, and request account or data deletion. You may contact support to request access, correction, or an explanation of how your information is used. We may verify ownership before acting on a request; never send your password or a sign-in code.
8. Website cookies and security
This website may use essential session and security cookies supplied by its web framework. This landing-page implementation does not install advertising pixels or third-party analytics scripts. The app and API have their own operational records described above.
We use password hashing and access controls to protect accounts. Public deployments should use HTTPS. No system can guarantee absolute security, so protect your credentials and contact support if you suspect unauthorized access.
9. Children
Cineplex Alert is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact support so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
10. Changes and contact
